LinkedIn can be an amazingly powerful tool for networking and career moves, but how can your profile rise above the many others out there? The Capella University Career Center has identified 14 tips to help your profile stand out from the LinkedIn crowd. Follow these tips to make your profile attractive, relevant, and searchable.<\/p>\n

  1. Headline.<\/strong> The first thing people will see, so make it eye-catching<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. Photo<\/strong>. A picture is worth a lot more than 1,000 words. Make sure yours tells the right story<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  3. Name.<\/strong> This is one way prospective employers will find you, so make it easy for them to do so<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  4. Key Words. <\/strong>Another way prospective employers search is via key words<\/a>. Do you have the right ones on your profile?<\/li>\n
  5. Summary.<\/strong> This is the centerpiece, and it\u2019s your chance to highlight your skills and accomplishments<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  6. Searchable Skills. <\/strong>Employers may also search by skills<\/a>, so make sure to fill up all 50 skills slots!<\/li>\n
  7. Recommendations.<\/strong>\u00a0Recommendations<\/a> are a chance for other professionals to affirm your claims throughout your profile.<\/li>\n
  8. Evidence.<\/strong> Add files that can demonstrate your skills and abilities<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  9. Results.<\/strong> Skills are important, but so are end results<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  10. Volunteering.<\/strong> Forty percent of recruiters view volunteer work<\/a> as being as valuable as paid work.<\/li>\n
  11. Connections.<\/strong> Who should you connect with? Everyone you can<\/a>, especially professionally.<\/li>\n
  12. Education<\/strong>. Education matters on LinkedIn, but make sure to include details beyond just the title of your degree<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  13. Groups<\/strong>. LinkedIn has extensive group forums<\/a> centered on numerous professional associations and industries, and you should get involved in them.<\/li>\n
  14. Keep It Fresh.<\/strong> Your LinkedIn profile is never completely finished\u2014it will always be in a state of updating<\/a> if you want to keep attracting profile views.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
