{"id":4788,"date":"2016-07-15T11:00:36","date_gmt":"2016-07-15T16:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stgwww.capella.edu\/blogs\/cublog\/?p=4788"},"modified":"2016-07-15T13:30:40","modified_gmt":"2016-07-15T18:30:40","slug":"capella-attends-national-higher-education-innovation-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stgwww.capella.edu\/blogs\/cublog\/capella-attends-national-higher-education-innovation-meeting\/","title":{"rendered":"Capella Invited to White House Forum on Technology in Higher Ed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In June 2016, leaders from Capella University were invited by the White House and the U.S. Department of Education to attend a higher education innovation meeting at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. The one-day symposium focused on how to create a national education technology plan for higher education. Nearly 100 leaders from higher education institutions, ed tech companies, and media came together to think through innovation opportunities in teaching, learning, assessment, data and research, and credentialing.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Department of Education Undersecretary Ted Mitchell kicked off the event challenging the group to make <a href=\"http:\/\/www.educationdive.com\/news\/ed-undersecretary-shares-obama-administrations-home-stretch-vision\/422314\/\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cthe next 200 days [of this administration] matter\u201d for the future of higher education<\/a>. Four students from different universities joined via Google Hangout to talk about their own higher education experiences and what they think the future of education should look like.
