Virtual and in-person ceremonies

Capella University currently hosts virtual commencement ceremonies. Beginning in December 2021, we will also offer in-person commencement for a limited number of graduates and their guests.

While the pandemic continues to pose great challenges, we are excited to announce that we will offer both virtual and in-person commencement events starting in December.

For those graduates who prefer not to travel or who are unable to attend, we will still offer virtual ceremonies. Friends and family who wish to participate virtually can watch a livestream of each ceremony.

Health and Safety Requirements for Graduates and Guests

Commencement is always a memorable event, and we are taking every step possible to ensure the health and safety of all participants. To participate in the San Antonio commencement, all graduates and guests (ages 2 and up) will be required to:

Wear a mask over nose and mouth regardless of vaccination status.
Sign a COVID-19 waiver.
Provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of the start of graduate check-in. Those graduates and guests who voluntarily provide proof of full vaccination will be exempt from the negative COVID-19 test result requirement. As a reminder, to be fully vaccinated the attendee must have received either the second dose of a 2-dose series COVID vaccine or a single-dose COVID vaccine at least two weeks before the event. Please do not send in documentation until further instruction is received.
